MEDICUPPING

1. WHAT IS MEDICUPPING AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

Cupping therapy has been used for thousands of years in ancient civilizations and cultures spanning from east to west to relieve physical and energetic stagnation and congestion. Cupping is a negative pressure massage that creates separation in the tissue to encourage break up of congestion and stagnation, restoring movement within your organs and auric field. MediCupping™ is a machine-assisted vacuum therapy that creates suction and pumping movements that are normally done with manual vacuum pistols to draw inflammation up and out of the tissue. This gentle, effective method increases water absorption and renewed blood flow to undernourished and dehydrated tissue, as well as eliminates the buildup of waste and congestion.

2. WHAT CONDITIONS RESPOND WELL TO MEDICUPPING?

Chronic pain, fibromyalgia, arthritis, migraine, tension headaches, plantar fasciitis, sciatica, scoliosis, solid bloat, irritable bowel syndrome, congestion, insomnia, rheumatism, anxiety, and TMJ disorder respond positively to medical massage cupping. Cupping is a great way to release soft tissue, scars, and restricted fascia.

3. CAN ANYONE TRY MEDICUPPING?

MediCupping™ should not be used on patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy, heart or kidney failure, ascites due to hepatic-cirrhosis and severe edema, as well as hemorrhagic diseases such as allergic purpura, hemophilia, and leukemia, bulging discs, dermatosis, open legions, or allergic dermatitis. Cupping should not be applied to any area where a hernia exists or has occurred in the past. Please consult a medical doctor for questions and concerns pertaining to your health.

4. ARE THERE POTENTIAL REACTIONS TO MEDICUPPING?

  • Discoloration of tissue due to toxins and old blood being brought to the surface

  • Post tenderness, but usually less than deep tissue therapy

  • Redness & itchiness may occur and is caused by increased vasodilation and or inflammation brought to the surface

  • Decreased blood pressure due to nervous system sedation and vasodilation

It is recommended to withhold from exercise and exposure to excessive heat or cold for 24 hours after treatment. Drink water to facilitate elimination and refrain from scheduling other bodywork services for 48 hours after therapy.
